i had the same problem as you, i wanted a beautiful designer dress but did not have the budget for it…  I looked at having a Knockoff made, but read too many reviews that didn’t sound so great to me.  I ended up buying my dreamdress from a fellow bee.  I looked at “recycled” (used) dresses.

Needless to say, i love my dress, it just needs a few alterations and a cleaning, but even after all that, it still is alot cheaper than buying the brand new one.  I just wasn’t comfortable with the china dress route, lots of bees have done it and seem quite happy with the results, but it just wasn’t for me.

there are a lot of great sites for buying used if you want to look into that…

the dress is beautiful by the way!

It is beautiful reminds me of monique lhuiller calista.

I think buying a replica is risky when you like a particular lace, I would suggest looking for preowned dresses, if you don’t mind me asking what is your budget?

Lace is hard to replicate when going the knockoff route.

With that being said, I went the knockoff route (although used a seamstress based in the US, ieiebridal.com) and my dress was half lace, half taffeta.

There are many designers who have created a similar dress to what you have posted and I’m sure if you go try on something similar, you’ll find something in your budget. If this really is your dream dress, then you may want to consider the custom route.

HTH!!

Get thee to Church Street Bridal (http://churchstreetbridal.blogspot.com/). If you look in my “Classifieds” history, you can find an ongoing thread about CSB dresses. Amaaaazing designer gowns for unreal prices (most are around $500).

I’m just going to echo a few of the other PPs – if you’re looking for a sepcific type of lace, a replica or knock-off is going to be very disappointing.

I’d suggest the used dress sites as well.   Or – consider buying the dress you love, and then selling it to offset the cost.

@honkybdado:  Hi do you still have the Robert Bullock Jessica dress?  If so, how much are you selling it for?

Thank you,

Aline
