I came across a dress design by Martin McCrea that I fell in love with, and was searching for this dress online when I came across a website called dressactually.com I found the dress but was really surprised to see that the price they had for this designer dress was under $300.00 I went to the Martin McCrea website and saw that the were selling the dress for more than triple that. I wanted to order the dress but I did not want to pay full retail unless I had to, but I also wanted to make sure I was not being ripped off. I sent an email to Martin McCrea asking if dressactually was one of the vendors they sold to, and this morning I received this reply:
“I had no idea that our dresses were even on that site. I have never heard of them. We make all of our dresses here in our studio, one at a time. We no longer sell our gowns wholesale, and even when we we did they were not that inexpensive. Those prices would barely cover materials. So, if you ordered one from dressactually, I have no idea where they would get it!
SO-dressactually is not so legitimate, I haven’t ordered from them but I know that they are using the Martin McCrea stock photos and representing them as their own-without authorization. At the very least, this is has to be illegal, somehow, and I just wanted to let everyone know that they should keep away from this site, or risk getting ripped off.
If you want to see the dress in question, here it is-for real:
