As long as it looks good, fits well and doesn’t fall apart before the end of the day I’m good. The most expensive item I own are a pair of boots my aunt bought for my 16th birthday, yes, they are 10 years old and were on sale for $150 from $300. I am not spending more than $300 on a dress for one day, unless it’s utter crap how much quality do you really need? I’ve worn halloween costumes for longer. Seriously, I want to look great but reality is I’m playing dress up for a day, to me it’s not worth a grand I don’t have.

If you have it, then by all means spend it if it’s important to you. If I had the money (ah, dreams, c’mon lotto) I would get one made locally but I’ll need $1100 just for change of status paperwork (kinda freaking out already), staying in the same country as my hubby will be worth way more than a dress. Depends on what you have and what your priorities are. I don’t see anything wrong with a knock-off (though by the time I have mine copied it won’t be current in the designer’s collection, I don’t know if that’s any better but I feel I little less guilty)

My knock off experience was great. I think the construction of my dress is as good or better than some of the gowns I tried on in the bridal salons. Purchasing online/overseas is like buying anything, buyer beware, do your research. There is no way I can justify spending the kind of money the salon dresses cost, plus the alterations. As my dress was custom made to my measurements; I didn’t have additional costs for alterations as I would have had for sure even if I had been lucky enough to find a sample sale or clearance dress, which I didn’t.  Perhaps if you live in a city that has places for clearance dresses; that would be a good option, sadly this isn’t the case for the majority of people. There are many other things I would want to spend money on other than a dress I will wear for a day, but that is me.  There are people that just cannot go with a knock off and that’s fine for them and there are people that are totally fine with a knock off; it’s just where your priorites are. You need to do what is right for you; whatever way that is.

@bellasmommy09:  I got pictures of the DRESS!! I must say, I do love love love it (at least in the pics), but asked them to do a slight alteration to the front seam and one seam in the back. In the pics it looked like the dress was puffing out along those two seams only, which looked off so they are fixing that problem.  They even thanked me for pointin that out.  I want to wait to post pics until I receive updated photos, but so far so good!  They are even on schedule as the dress is supposed to ship by April 15th!!

My two cents: I bought my dress from preownedweddingdresses.com, and I am thrilled with it. I got a $1400-$1500 dress for $800, it’s the exact gown I wanted with 98% of the alterations I’d need already done. I didn’t have to worry about whether it would be the right one, I didn’t have to worry about quality and I didn’t need hardly any alterations.

@bellasmommy09:  I’m not sure if you’ve ordered your dress yet, but wanted to give you a follow up to my experience like i said I would.  I received my dress Thursday, and was finally able to try it on today (my mom, sisters and a ‘maid all wanted to be there when I opened it/tried it).  I must say, I am SOOOOOOOO happy with the final result!!!! It does need some minor alterations, but the dress was sent before the deadline date (even after asking them to make some slight changes), and the quality is even better than I hoped or expected!!  Here’s the thread to pics…let me know if you have any other questions; good luck! :

Got my Dress! Got my Dress!! {Pics included!}
