I really need help with this one… I’ve been reading posts for a long time, but really needed some direct advice for this issue.
I have a pretty slim build and I am quite lean. Because of that, I figured I could wear a fitted lace dress (love them!). I am partial to the style from the 40’s and 50’s, but I’m otherwise uninfluenced by most fashion trends.
I realized after trying on about 15+ lace dresses that it was going to be very difficult to get one that I liked within my price range. I’m just too muscular and boxy for the style, apparently.
Long story short, I now have two dresses that I am stuck between. One is used and the other is new (obvious in the photos).
What should I do? Which should I choose? My wedding is only two months away, and both dresses are available for me.

Out of the 2, I prefer the Allure!

@repose: I prefer the first Allure dress out of these two, but I think you’re not doing your figure justice! You definitely have the body for something more fitted, at least from what I can tell.

I prefer the first one but from your description, to me you sound like the second one is more your style. Both are pretty and you suit both

You have a very nice body, but sorry it looks like boobs are about to fall out of the first one. Not my cup of tea, and I’m sure at least some of your guests would agree.

@repose: Are you going to hem #2 if you select this one as your dress?
ETA: Without hemming, your dress length will hit you at a really unflattering spot and make you look even shorter.
Because of that, I would select dress #1 for you instead.

im sure you’d look good in a paper bag, but i voted for the justin alexander. i just think that dress is so stunning. the allure one looks beautiful on you, but im personally not a fan of the ruffled bottom style

This is a hard choice… I think the first one looks better… but from what you wrote, the second one seems to be more “you”… so I voted for the second one 🙂 Are you leaning towards one in particular?

They’re very different – the Allure is dramatic, the JA is very vintage, romantic looking. I’d make the decision based on which one suits the overall feel that you’re going for.

@repose: I love number one…it makes the upper half of your body look amazing. However they are both very different styles, go with the one that makes you feel more ‘you’.
Either way, you rock both!

@repose: I know you’re in a time crunch, but I don’t think either would be my pick. The first is SO much gown, and you have a rockin’ figure. The neckline is lovely though. The second definitely has the 40s-50’s feel that you said you liked, but the neckline isn’t my favorite on you.
Since you already seemed open to pre-loved gowns, what about checking out some of the websites that sell them? A quick browse revealed a TON of reasonably priced slim lace dresses.

Second one is much more unique and has way more personality. I agree with PP that the first one is rather chesty, I’m sure that could be altered though.

Wow… thank you for responding so fast!
I have been leaning towards finding a new dress… I just know it’ll break my Mom’s heart because she loves the Allure dress. I honestly feel like I got it because I was so pressured that the time to just get everything done (pick a date, pick a venue, pick a dress… I felt like I was being pushed into making decisions right away!).
There was another dress that was available back when I first started looking. But it was a sample, and was a great price. Looking back, I think it actually could have worked very well… I remember it being scary-small in the chest and I thought my breats would fall out (but I supposed it could have been altered to avoid that).

I love the Allure! Your boobs look great.
