This is my current centerpiece idea. I would like to add LED lights underneath the purple stand and also add tea lights in purple candleholders on both sides. Am I ridiculous to use a garbage pail for a stand or do you think I can get away with it? By the way, my tables are long and oval. I only purchased the candelabras and one “stand” so far so please be brutally honest. As always, all opinions and suggestions are much appreciated.

Honestly–I would have no idea that’s a trash can if you hadn’t actually said it. That’s way too flashy to just be a trash can! It says “Hey, look at me!” It totally deserves to be used for more than just junk. 😉
I think it’s a really interesting idea. My only real concern would be that it seems like it would work better for larger tables, as it’s fairly tall as a focal point. But if you think it will work for whatever size tables you have, then I say go for it. Knock yourself out. And then take pictures of it.
One suggestion… just talking design here, not budget or practicality or anything… If you do have fairly large tables, what about candles taller than tealights? With the tall candelabra and short tealights, you’re kind of missing a whole mid-range thing there. Does that make sense? I think if you’re doing a 2-level kind of centerpiece, it should be either short and medium, or medium and tall.
My two cents.

I wouldn’t know that is a trash can either – but I’m concerned about the stability of that. If someone bumps the table that doesn’t look too sturdy. I’d try to super glue those together just to be safe.
