@lionskitty: Congrats!!! 🙂 Happy to hear your good news! I would say pick the one you love the most despite if it’s less expensive. If you really can’t make a decision then let your Fiance surprise you 🙂 I didn’t pick my ring but I did tell Fiance what I wanted which was an antique looking ring. He fulfilled my request and more…he got me a beautiful ring all on how own.

Is there a return policy if you get the Accsher? If so I would try it out and see if you like it.

As far as the metal there is no rule that says an engagement ring should be any type of metal. It’s just that since you will be wearing the ring for a long time most people chose gold, platinum, etc simply because it is more durable than silver. I wear a lot of silver personally and after many years of wearing one ring in particular it was bent out of shape. So that being said that is why I chose gold for my engagement ring.

    Congrats!!!

FWIW, I think I can relate on the whole idea of being weird/cheap. I would simply feel guilty and constantly self-conscious of my hand (bumping/damaging it, etc) if I spent more than a couple hundred on a ring. So don’t feel weird! I’m also someone who’s okay with the idea of replacing or fixing a ring years down the line if the SS wears thin or gets scratched or whatever. For me an e-ring is a symbol, and if I had to change it (I don’t mean updrades, just if it gets damaged) it wouldn’t be the biggest deal in the world if it wasn’t the “original.”

I can also relate re: wanting a gemstone, and not really differentiating between SS and white gold (though personally I do prefer yellow) but if SS is properly taken care of it’ll look great for years and years!

I too would be bothered by the logic of the second ring being double the price. Heck, for that amount you could get white gold and a round cut, couldn’t you/ But if the metal truly doesn’t matter to you, go with whatever you want because the price difference is negligible in the big scheme of things.

Congrats on the engagement! Ultimately it’s your decision which one you choose but in this case I would select the round solitaire. Before I got my radiant cut diamond I was seriously contemplating asschers. The reason why Fiance and I opted against the asscher was bc we couldn’t find one with the specs we want. Bc it is a step cut, you may notice more flaws and inclusions in the stone. That being said, without viewing the stone first you won’t notice if it is eye clean. The round solaitaire you can view which is why it’s my suggestion.

The ones from Zales are not the cut you want but very pretty none the less. The first one is a cushion cut. Sorry for the HUGE pics, lol!

The first ring mrsfuturea posted is from Etsy

ETA:  I also really think you should go with white gold.  Silver isn’t that durable, and if your settings keep breaking or whatever, you may end up spending more on replacements and repairs than you would on a white gold setting that will last.
