munaluchibridal.com showcases beautiful black brides 🙂 most of the bridal parties are also black but you’ll find very diverse groups too!

Just sounds to me like someone wanting to see how thwir wedding vision is going to look, same as any one else asking for specific colours or wedding elements in a photo to help visualise it. If it’s not something you see as often some time it’s hard to see it in your head without visual clues. I don’t think there is anything else behind it at all. I spent ages searching for ginger hair in any kind of pink dress to make sure I wasn’t going to clash in my pink dress, I think OP just wants to see how colours and skin tone will look all together.

I forgot I had these photos, this is my oldest school friends wedding from about 7 years ago, I had a terrible camera back then

NDTieTheKnot :  with all due respect, that’s ridiculous. What are your credentials for claiming that?

Here are mine for my assertion: I’ve worked with the top photographers, including for top fashion magazines (so the photographer was top in the business, internationally) as well as the top DP in the film business (academy award winner)  known for his lighting skills, and this is always a challenge. They do it, but it takes planning (scouting, e.g.), equipment and manpower. Things a wedding photographer often doesn’t have.

As an example of the issues a pro needs to adjust for, see the above pictures (taken by the bee herself- not meant as an insult to her!) and how the darker skinned bride’s face is not what the photographer /camera/lighting adjusted for. You can barely see her features. Whereas the lighter skinned black girl you can see more of her face in both pics, and the Caucasian people’s faces are more clear.

Even if this isn’t the OP’s issue (but it is a real issue, whether you chose to acknowledge that or not), how to you get from her wanting help to visualize something, to accusing her of nefarious motives when she is the person who asked 4 white girls to be her BMs. She also never said she was embarrassed. She also didn’t wonder if they would look good next to her.  She asked for pictures. you sure took a lot of leaps with your accusations.

Referring to what you wrote here , “like somehow you’re embarrassed to have four white bridesmaids. If this was a white woman wondering if a few black women would look good next to her she’d get ripped apart.”

Splodge2003 :   Thank you for posting these to demonstrate how easy it is for a camera to not pick up the features of darker individuals. I don’t think a lot of us fairer ladies have an appreciation for the bias against darker tones in film.

For those interested in learning more about the history of film and why it doesn’t photograph all people the same vox has a video explaining this; https://youtu.be/d16LNHIEJzs

violet21293 :  I hadn’t posted them to demonstrate any particular point to do with photography, any professional should be able to bring out the best in all subjects and lighting given to them. My point about  having a rubbish camera was just to explain the bad quality of the images over all, that and they were copied from my face book albums. I posted them to help the OP see how her and her girls might look. I don’t think there is any deeper meaning to the original question that that.
