I had both and a cake – people loved it!  I had a lot of cake leftover, but no biggie.

I am having a candy table, a dessert table and a full cake.  I know my family ๐Ÿ™‚  Though I have recently been considering having a chocolate fountain instead of a candy table because it will cost the same and be more fun.

I don’t think it’s too much!  I’m sure your guests will love the options (the more the merrier!)  We are planning to have both a dessert table and candy bar too, plus the cake of course!! My friend had a candy bar and chocolate fountain — both were very popular with the guests ๐Ÿ™‚

In my opinion, you can never have too many sweets ๐Ÿ™‚

I think having both is fine. It works with our theme because we are having a Halloween Wedding and usually you think about sweets when you think of Halloween! ๐Ÿ™‚ So a huge candy buffet and then chocolate fondue pots for dipping!

As a bona fide sweet tooth, I say have it all. I think that people will know that the candy buffet is favours if you leave little bags for them to take some candy to go. YAY for sweets!

@redheadem: I’m having a brunch reception with no dancing too! We’re doing dessert bar w/no candy buffet (though I think it’s a dandy idea).

We have three small cakes monogrammed (one initial per cake), one chocolate fudge, one champagne and one tiramisu; A croquembouche with 100 cream puffs; a selection of delicious shortbreads (various flavors); and Macarons (also various flavors). I’m super excited about my desserts!
