Hi Bees! So every time I see a picture of a wedding dessert bar or something similar, it always seems like these wedding had to be for 20 people! All the guides say 2-3 pieces per guest… If you’re having 60 people, how does 20 cupcakes, 20 individual shot glass pudding spoon whatevers, and 15 little pies make it?! Obviously I’m exaggerating, but whenever I see dessert tables, I make a point to count how many they have of the items and it’s never more than 20 of each item. Do most guests just not get to try each thing? Does the carterer constantly replenish it? I feel like I’m out of the loop here — HELP!

@swedeypie: Maybe they have more stuff in the back that they add to it as the stuff starts to disappear?

When our caterer set up our cupcake/banana pudding shot table, they didn’t put out all of the items at once. It looked nice and clean to have a small table that kept getting refilled throughout the evening.

We had 100 cupcakes for 70 guests…and about half of them weren’t eaten. If your food is good and filling, people won’t necessarily want dessert.

At a wedding I went to with a dessert table, they would just bring more things out from the back and replenish the table, so it constantly looked full. I bet that is the case in many of the photos you see.
