I really LOVE this dress and so do my bridesmaids… we want it in Hunter(you have to change the color it shows up purple)… i love how deep and dark the color looks online…
however, i found a picture of a used dress online and the green looks greenish blue, and basically the hunter green i was trying to avoid… like i said i want the darker deeper green more like a jewel tone….
am i just being a super picky bride? or is my point valid? is it just a crummy picture? or bad lighting…. any thoughts or suggestions???

I think it will lean just sligtly towards a blue undertone, but don’t worry about it too much! I think you can get a sample swatch off of the dessy website. 🙂

I think the ebay pic is affected by the pink/peachy background, but I would definitely request a swatch. “Hunter” green should not have much blue in it at all.

the ebay auction ended and now i can’t find the picture =(

The only thing i’ll say about ordering samples from Dessy is that I don’t think it’s a fabric sample but a piece of card in the colour you requested. Just thought to say incase you wanted to see it in it’s true form.

I don’t blame you – I’m very interested in Dessy dresses, and I’m being uber-picky, too! I’m agonizing over “Sailor” and “Amethyst” (similar shades of dark/midnight blue).
I did order fabric and paper samples of the colors from Dessy. The fabric samples are very close in color to the paper sample, but not exactly, and a little bit better of a match for one fabric than the other. So I’d definitely recommend buying the actual fabric sample rather than the card if you really want to see what it’ll look like. I’m toting the fabrics around as color references, but I might stop by the hardware store to find a matching paint chip…

Hey! I was going for the same look as you, a more jewelled green and I went with “Shamrock.” Its beautiful in person! Here is a pic to give you an idea. Its not exactly emerald, but pretty close and it really pops!

Oh I should have added the fabric types. the top is chiffon with satin trim, the bottom new georgette with satin ribbon.
Hope this helps! And you are so not picky…. I really grappled with my shade of green choice too, so I understand.

I was going to say definitley order a swatch. I’m using the Dahlia color and the color on the site is way off IMO.
And I feel your pain on that $15 dollar swatch. Ridic. It is the fabric, not just a card btw.

@topaz925: I got the Dessy dresses in Shamrock also. They are a deep emerald- my favorite color and exactly what I wanted.
If you check out the color swatches at the bridal shop, you can get an accurate idea of the colors.

Cant you ask for a swatch so you get an actual real life sample of the color? because colors look different on different screens and in different lighting

@topaz925: thanks so much for that! really truly helped!!!

THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE!

I think I may be too late for this conversation, but in case there are any other bees out there who are looking for Dessy fabric swatches, weddingtonway.com also carries Dessy dresses and you can purchase up to 5 fabric swatches for $2 each from them (after that, it’s $15/swatch).
