Getting married in Cancun! My dress looks big and puffy, but it is actually really light weight since it is organza, and I didn’t like any of the “destination” gowns I tried on.

@dynamic_duo:  omg thats great, I was afraid it was going to be too formal for a beach wedding, but was gonna wear it regardless lol, I love it!

i love all these dresses!

i was so disappointed at the beginning when i went dress shopping, one mention of beach wedding and the lady started pulling out dresses that were really really simple – no beading, no train…basically they were white sundresses. the most elaborate one at the beginning was a grecian column dress – beautiful but not what i was looking for

i ended up saying that although id take her advice about fabrics etc…my dream dress was a little bit more elaborate…lace details, beading, or *anything* hahaha. to an extent im prepared to suffer from heat a little bit if it means i look nice =)my dress above was still one of her suggestions, but after id explained what i was looking for

Here you go. A-Line strapless with bolero and veil. Destination was Florence, Italy.

This is a clearer picture of how long the train was.

IN some pictures, I took off the bolero for a different look. Veil was blown away (saved by photographer’s assistant) but we decided it’s just too windy to put it back on during photography.

I know what you mean by not liking destination style dresses in the wedding dress shops, they are usually made without boning, hence clings to the body and is very unflattering on my body type. If I had Kim Kardashian’s hourglass figure, I would totally wear one.

Thanks for giving me hope ladies!  My first trip to the bridal salon ended with me literally telling the consultant that I didn’t care if I looked like a sweating, dying animal lugging a big gown through the airport…I absolutely did not want a “typical” destination dress.  I’m so happy to hear that other brides aren’t settling either!

@MississippiQueen — what Etsy store owner did you get your skirt from?

@MississippiQueen:  I am so in love with your dress and cardigan.  I just ordered my skirt from Etsy also and am currently looking (obsessing) there too for a vintage cardigan.  You looked beautiful!
