R you asking your guests to wear a certain dress code? Our venue is on an island but not on a beach. Its a botanical garden. I am unsure as to whether I am ok with guests wearing hawaiin type casual shirts and khakis. I would hope they dont wear jeans! I don’t really know what the alternative is cuz I doubt they will pack slacks and I wouldnt ask guests to pack Sunday best or anything. Mother and father of bride and groom will be wearing nice dresses (not too fancy) and suits. Other guests… I’m not so sure about.

I am having mine on a beach and I said it would be warm and I wanted guests to be comfortable, but that they would be included in a group photo so please look nice (or something similar). I think that you could create a wedding website and put something on there about what attire you think is acceptable. You could say dressy casual, hopefully they will get the hint.

@BeeG35: My wedding will be in Cabo. It is not on the beach but it is outside and overlooks the water
I put this on our website about the dress code. I didn’t want people showing up with bikinis and beers. I wanted to keep it light when telling people what to wear!
What will I wear!?
The event is semi-formal, but anything you want to wear we are sure will be ok. The bride requests you refrain from wearing a wedding dress, but if that’s really all you have to wear, she prefers that to you going naked! You know us – we’re not uptight. We only ask that you keep it classy for the ceremony. Men: Slacks, button down shirt and a tie Women: Semi formal dress or sun dress
*Note: These are just suggestions. We trust our guests to show up looking fabulous!

@BeeG35: I had a Destination Wedding and I really didn’t give any direction on what to wear….I trusted that most people knew how to dress!
Here was my venue
This was a group shot……they all did just fine!

@BeeG35: I’m having a destination wedding and will not be having my ceremony on a beach either…it will be in the centre square of the resort (see pic below) I trust that people will know what is appropraite to wear to a wedding regardelss of the fact it is a destination wedding and I also listed it on our wedding website that the attire is to be semi-formal

We listed our dress code as “beach chic” and are letting people take their own interpretation. I anticipate seeing men in Kakhis and button downs and women in dresses ranging from fancy sundress to cocktail dress.
I think we’ll have some men in shorts (fine with me, it’s gonna be hot!) but I hope not to see jeans. Sandals for men are also fine by me.
My wedding will be at a fancy resort in Mexico, beachside but not on sand.
