I am getting married in Antigua on new years eve. I am terrible at fixing my own hair. I am trying to decide if I should book an appointment with salon at sandals or have my hair stylist teach me an updo I can hopefully do myself. Anyone had their hair done at sandals salons? Any suggestions on diy hair? I really want an updo with a flower.

It’s your wedding day,You should relax and enjoy and not worry about trying to do your own hair. personally I’d book an apt with the resort salon. Maybe have your hair stylist at home help you co e up with a style and take tons of photos from all angles so the resort can copy it…

@tdb: agree with @SupermansSweetheart: I think you should book a place to do your hair as it will reduce stress, I couldnt imagine trying to do my own ahir on my wedding day (and I am having a DW).

I’m having Sandals do hair and makeup. I’m not doing a trial there..don’t want to waste a vacation day on hair trial. Taking pictures and I pretty much know what i want for makeup. I was going to do my makeup and I decided to treat myself. The wedding planner said makeup photographs differently in Caribbean. Don’t know if that’s true but I fell for it..

Thanks! I guess your right… a lot less stress to just let a salon do it for me.

I just went to my own salon just today to play with some styles. I think it’s a good idea to see how it’s all done (not a huge secret – just hairspray and bobby pins!). I also watched some YouTube videos and tried it on myself (FAIL). I think it’s just really hard to get what’s going on in the back of your head!
Even though my stylist won’t do my hair for the wedding, I can at least tell the Destination Wedding stylist what I want, because I’ve seen in on my head and know what works.
If you have time, I’d get a do done by your local person and also play with your hair yourself. Then decide if you want to hire someone!
I am going to do my own makeup though. I have been watching videos, bjying a few products, going to the Clinique counter to get good undereye concealer. Then I take photos of myself in real day light.
It’s crazy – I can put on lots of eye makeup in front of the mirror (well it feels like alot) but go and take a photo and it’s like I didn’t put any on at all! I apparently need to add more blush as well. So lots of trial and error.

@tdb: OMG i got married at Sandals… Book the hair appointment at there Salon… If you don’t like your hair you don’t have to pay for it and they give you a trial run! My advice is book the trial when you get there not before. Because they like to nickle and dime you.

I’m having a destination wedding next year and I will probably just have one of my bridesmaids do my hair. She ahs doen my hair a number of times before so she knows what I like and I will know it will turn out right!
