Help, does this look like a good timeline for sending invitations to a destination wedding? Of course you want to give guests ample time to make arrangements but I have also read that people forget about it if it’s too far in advance.
I could send Save the Dates as early as October if necessary. I need the rsvps in by the first week in August because I am going to be doing a site visit then and want to be able to finalize the number of tables and chairs.
Send Save the Dates: Dec. 1, 2011 (10 Months, 1 day in advance)
Send Invitations: Jun. 25, 2012 (2 months and a week in advance)

@Zusie: I think this looks similar to what I am planning for my Destination Wedding except for the RSVP by date, but that is only because I think my venue won’t be able to hold room bookings for that long. The only thing I might be concerned about is it seems like a lot of brides are struggling with people returning their RSVPs way late, so maybe if you really need a final count by a certain time you should make the RSVP date earlier to accomodate stragglers?

For destination wedding i would advice you to send save the dates around 4 months before your wedding….it will give sufficient time to guests to make arrangements for the wedding and also its not too early that they can forget about it…..i sent my save the dates before 4 and half months before…..

We have a lot of family traveling to get to our port and then also cruising so we wanted to give our guests as much time to save and plan as possible.
September 1, 2011 – Save the Dates are mailed
October 1, 2012 – Invitations
December 1, 212- RSVP due (we have to give our venue an exact guest list complete with passport or driver’s license numbers. They want this three to four weeks in advance)
January 13, 2013 – Wedding

Mexico wedding – April 7.2012
STD: Sent between July and Aug (stupid postal strike) of 2011
Invitations: November 2011
RVSP: Feb 2012
I don’t actually pay for my wedding package until I get there in cash. If we have a super low turn out I will just change the package once I get there.
