- Wedding: July 2016 - Chateau
I just needed some people to talk to 🙂
Long story short we have our hearts set on a destination wedding in the Caribbean where I spent my whole life and where my parents still live. My Fiance lives in a ski station in the alps and pretty much NONE of his family will come to our wedding where as my family have all said yes.
Our parents think we should have a little second reception in the alps so that the family gets together and parties. So my FIs family is coming to this reception, my family has decided they are coming to both wedding and french reception and more friends will come to this french reception…
Everything is booked and paid for beach-wise and restaurant – wise in the caribbean and my dress is DEFINITELY NOT what I would have worn for a wedding in Europe… so we are getting married in the caribbean. I just hope people will not think of the reception as more important than the wedding. I mean for me, the ceremony is the most important and I dont want people saying “oh well I don’t have to go to the wedding because there will be a party closer to home”. I am well aware that a destination wedding is an event where many people decline and I am OK with that… my problem comes with people who say yes then change their minds because they have a cheaper “back up”.
I guess I should be happy that I can have my cake and eat it too since I can have my intimate and exotic wedding and still be able to have a big wedding after party. Im just a bit confused and need time for it to sink in and wanted to kill 2 birds with one stone in putting my thoughts in writing and maybe get some outside views 🙂
I guess I would love to hear stories of people who have done this (did it work out well?) I would also love opinions etc from you lovely helpful ladies 🙂
