@deannalg3:  no problem! Ask away!

We are inviting about 80 people, but about 20 of those are people I must invite but will likely not come. I think I will end up with somewhere between 35-50.

Yes, I am using a TA. Her name is Cherina Shaw and I highly recommend her. She got me better group rates than when I contacted the resorts myself. Her company is Boho Chic Travel. If you’re only having 20 people though, I would say that they can probably all book online and find deals through sites like expedia/travelocity, etc. For the group rates, I need 10 rooms guaranteed. And for every 10 rooms booked, you get 1 free.

I think my wedding will cost me somewhere around $20k. That includes the cost of my dress. The bills I’ve seen at the Jellyfish have averaged around $10k. You will need to pay some of it in cash and some of it can be put on cc.

I’m not sure what you mean by hidden costs? I do know that there is an 18% tax included on the food/alcohol that I didn’t calculate at first bc I didn’t know about it. Other than that, I don’t think there’s anything else that I’ve been surprised about.

@deannalg3:  I considered a few options. First,I considered renting a huge house and getting a chef. Then I considered renting out an entire hotel (boutique) and negotiating meal plans (Cherina said this was possible). Ultimately, I decided on the AI. Fiance and I have been on an AI vacation and it was the best vacation we’ve ever been on. It’s so nice to have tons of activities at your disposal and not worry about taking out your wallet and what things will cost and knowing in advance how much everything will cost you. Yes there is a price difference between all the AIs. The more expensive ones tend to be more luxurious and have more included activities. My resort for instance is on a golf course and the green fees are included. There is nightly entertainment, clubs, restaurants, pretty much everything you need in one spot. I’m staying at Paradisus Palma Real and it’s about $360/night per couple. There were more expensive options (Iberostar $500, but it was adults only) and cheaper options (Majestic Elegance/Majestic Colonial about $260-280). So there are lots of options. We decided in advance that we wanted everyone at the same resort to make it easier for everyone and because we want to vacation with all our friends and family, not just have a wedding and not see them again.
