Has or is anyone making an A List and a B List for their destination wedding? I feel like destination weddings need more advanced notice for the guests to make arrangements. How far in advance are you asking for your A list to RSVP and when are you sending out invites to your B List?

We aren’t doing an A and B list. We are inviting everyone we want, we plan on sending out the Save The dates soon and will have an RSVP date about 2-3 months before the wedding.

Just send invites to everyone you want at a wedding. If its an issue of space and money, then pre plan. Don’t bite off more than you can chew
Everyone should be granted an equal amount of time when invited to your wedding, especially as a destination!

I’m inviting (almost) everyone we want. I anticipate a few people to drop out last minute, like usual, plus the mandatory invites for people who will rsvp no. We have limited chapel space and some people don’t care to miss the 15 minute ceremony and we will have them at dinner (in case we actually fill up). Our Save the Dates already went out since we have a bunch of weddings coming up and the invites will go out likely 4 months before.

I was B (or C) list for a desination wedding once. We received the invitation to the international wedding of my ex’s boss about 2.5 weeks prior to the wedding. The requested “rsvp by” dates were long, long past. Moral of story: Start early if you plan to do this and change rsvp dates.

@kay01: Wow, yeah I would definitely give them more advanced notice than that!

We’re doing an A & B list for our June wedding. Save-The-Date Cards are out to close fam and friends, but we will send their invites out in Dec for response by Feb. B List we will send out as no’s come in for response by March. Everything needs to be in by April 1st so no changes after that.
I dont want people to feel like they’re on a B list at all so timing will overlap if possible, and granted we get some no’s. For right now, everyone seems to be coming. We can only have 50 people and we sent Save-The-Date Cards to 56…
