Showers are generally smaller than weddings, which is why some people can have more than one.  So you might have one with grandmas, aunts, mother and their friends, and one with your close friends.  But generally it’s about the bride and not so much the groom.  Which is all to say that no, you’re totally fine not inviting FI’s friends’ wives, and in fact they might feel a little weird getting another present and squealing over someone they don’t really know, even if they are very happy to see your Fiance and you get married.  It’s wonderful that you worry about people feeling left out, but I think we brides are the only ones who notice that sort of thing unless there is only one person not invited.  The nicest showers I’ve been to have been small and with people who are all very close to the bride.
