Hi All! I am trying to figure out the logistics for a Jamaica destination wedding with a very Catholic family. Has anyone been married in a church in Jamaica? Or know someone who has? Hoping to either do Sandals or Beaches (depending on the number of little ones people want to bring) and be able to do the church wedding. Other option is a church here and then the ceremony there… but really don’t want to do that. Any ideas are appreciated! Thank you!

Talk to your pastor. You’ll have to do that anyway to be married in the Church. You’ll need to choose a Catholic church in Jamaica (online, I guess?) and contact them to see what they do about DWs. When you say “do Sandals or Beaches”, do you mean hold the Catholic ceremony there? Or do they have a chapel? Really you need to start with your home parish; they’ll be able to help you with all this.

Thanks! Actually my Uncle is our Priest 🙂 He is set on my getting married in the church that he is the pastor of… which is also the one I grew up in. To be able to pitch it to him, will need a church.
Sorry for the confusion, I meant Sandals or Beaches as where everyone will be staying and where the reception would be. If they do have a chapel, it unfortunately won’t cut it. It has to be in a catholic church to be viewed as a sacrament… Priest’s words, not mine 🙂

I would contact the Sandals or Beaches resort you are thinking of and speak with the wedding coordinator. A travel agent who specializes in weddings at Sandals could probably help you as well.
