Hi Destination Wedding Ladies!
What did/are you doing for your wedding favours? I was thinking of fans for during the beach ceremony but wanted to do something else as well. Not sure what would work well as I’d have to bring it all with me.
Also, was thinking of doing some sort of “welcome” gift for guests when they arrive (not sure what yet)…maybe that and the fans are enough?
Thanks for your tips/advice.

Fans are a really cute idea! I was going to set up lil bags for our guests with fans, flip flops and sunglasses inside :]

i gave out fans during my beach ceremony. also when my guests arrived, i gave them their welcome bags. the bags themselves were canvas that they could use on the beach. In them i put little travel size things like sunscreen, hand sanitizer, gum, granola bar, water bottle, etc. also i put a postcard of jamaica and a bob marley cd.

@dynamic_duo: where did you get married in Jamaica?

Honestly I never take the fan home from DW’s (which we attend a lot given out proximity to Fiji. Thailand, Bali).
Personally I would prefer something to srepresent where the wedding was- my cousin gave out little Balinese carvings for her wedding in Bali which were dirt cheap and she doubled them as place card holders.
Something that doesn’t scream out (or printed with) John and Janes wedding but something when I look at it I remember where it came from and what a happy day/trip it was.

TO future_mrs_m: – For a Destination Wedding you have to always take into consideration the fact that folks might not have a lot of room in their luggage to take home extras… so size matters !!
IMO something local is perfect… and if it is food all the better !!
By The Way, you haven’t told us WHERE you are getting married… knowing the Destination itself might help when it comes to making suggestions.

This is the neatest favor I’ve seen for a destination wedding:

@future_mrs_m: we got married at Sunset Beach Resort and Spa in Montego Bay.
I still think the fans are a good idea for a beach ceremony, even if the guests don’t keep them. I handed them out so they could them during the ceremony and they did as it was hot!
Another idea I had but did not do was to hand out miniature bottles of Jamaican rum for everyone to take home as a souvenir. I wanted to add this to their welcome bags, but could not afford it in the end.

We are doing fans as our wedding programs for our Destination Wedding beach wedding. if you don’t want to customize them into programs you can just do regular fans, that works too.

For my Destination Wedding I was thinking of doing those stemless wine glasses so that guests could easily pack it. Then I was going to etch the glasses with something meaningful from our Destination Wedding, nothing with our names plastered all over it.
I am also thinking of doing welcom bags with a bag that can be used as a beach bag.

We are doing fans for the ceremony.
Night before we are having a get together and Fiance and I have done “stubby coolers” for each guest for them to use for the whole trip. We designed the coolers which say
Tracey & Jeff Bali Wedding 10.11.12.
To Have and To Hold and Keep Your Drink Cold.
Then a picture – map of the Island and a dot with the Novotel Nusa Dua markign the location and plane in the centre of the map showing a destination wedding
