@Ladydilizzy:  I would definelty consider changing coordinators. Find some that are highly reccomended, get in touch and tell them what’s going on so far, if they are proffessional and experienced they will have delt with this before and they can probably make some suggestions on how to move forward without starting from scratch. This is a crutial time and you need a competent and available coordinator.

@Ladydilizzy:  I think she is on Hawaii time, and she is probably used to receiving a lot of interested calls/emails from destination brides but doesn’t take them seriously until a deposit is made

@Ladydilizzy:  Is this a wedding coordinator you hired or the hotel/resort/venue wedding coordinator?  I only ask because I’m having the same issues with the WC at hotel I’m getting married at in Jamaica.  They literally take WEEKS to respond to anything and they just say they’re on “island time”.  I think if it is someone you are paying for a specific job, you should consider replacing her.  If this is just the person who handles weddings at your venue, you may just have to take a deep breath and keep being persistent.  When I really need a question answered, I will follow-up twice in a week (that usually gets the hint across).

She is definitely on island time. Things move so much slower there.

I would try to email her and voice your concerns one last time. Say that if you don’t hear back from her in a reasonable amount of time that you will assume that she is no longer interested in your business and that you will be contacting someone else.

Good luck! Kauai is a magical place! Darling Husband and I were married there also!

I would give her one more chance but explain to her that if she can’t be there for you now, how can you expect her to be there for you on her day?! Let her know you are considering changing coordinators and see what she says. Good luck!

@Ladydilizzy:  Definitely try to give her one more chance & if she screws that up, find a new coordinator. I am having a Destination Wedding and my coordinator responds to every e-mail within 24-48 hours, granted we’ve paid her a deposit already though!

I would consider changing coordinators.  I’m getting married on Maui and that was basically the deciding factor in where I decided to have my wedding between the ones I had narrowed down; how communicative they were!  Even with “island time”, for me that has been maybe a 2-3 day wait when I’m used to getting a reply the same or next day.  10 days or more is crazy.

I understand you completely! I am going through the same thing with my coordinator with my DW! I emailed her on february 21st telling her that I want my estimate for the wedding since all monies are due April 13th and she just sent me an email back monday!!!! I have been so frustrated!!!! She is the coordinator my venue gave me and I emailed her boss, cc’d her on it to let him know it was completely unacceptable and not what you would expect from The Ritz Carlton! She got the hint and has been on point since! 🙂 lol! Hopefully it will be ok from now on. I hope everything works out for you!

I’m getting married on Kauai too! I think things do run a little slower over there, I hope everything with your new planner works out 🙂
