I have the same type of family. We decided to only invite parents, bridal party, and his sister and nephew. We are having a reception when we get back home for eveyone that wasn’t invited.

@KaitPar1:  I dont think you will ever regret inviting people but you might regret not inviting them.  If they decline they decline but at least you included them.  If they are invted to yours sisters Destination Wedding they might wonder why you didnt invite them to yours.  I am having a Destination Wedding, have invited 60 but expecting around 25.

I will only be inviting close family (mom, dad brothers and their families) and my best friend since forever.  My fiance will have his sister and brother in law for sure but other than that I don’t know.  We are planning on having two receptions in the states following whenever the fiance can move here, one in Virgina where his family lives and one in Texas where most of my family resides.

I think you should invite anyone you’re on the fence about. With a Destination Wedding guest know that there is a smaller expectation for them to attend. Inviting them gives them the option of attending or not, and prevents you from being in an awkward situation of “why wasn’t I invited?”
