Hello, we too are planning on getting married in Curacao-november of 2013.  Have done tons of research online myself, and I too am having trouble finding any info on anyone getting married here.  We were set on Curacao, until recently when i read that they have a major mosquitoe problem, now I dont know what to do.  We had narrowed our hotels down to the Avila Hotel and the Marriott Beach Resort and Emerald Casino.  i am hoping to find that the mosquito issue isnt really as big of a problem as i have read, but i am not so certain.  Have you decided on a hotel, have you heard anything about the nightlife on the isalnd? I too, am looking for any and all info i can get on Curacao.  Any info you have found would be greatly appreicated.  Thanks in advance

We went on our honeymoon to Curacao – it was beautiful and we had an amazing time! We stayed at the Hyatt and saw a few beautiful weddings take place on their grounds while we were there… maybe check them out? Feel free to PM me if you have questions.

FWIW, we were there is October of 2011 and did not have any problems with mosquitos.

Hi Girls,

If you have any specifuc questions about Curacao, let me know. I’ll be happy to help.
I was Born and Raised on that little piece of paradise πŸ™‚

We are planning to get married there next year october.

I can tell you this, the mosquito thing, its not so bad. Use some mosquito repellant and you’ll be fine.  There are not many in the summer, because its so hot.

and the refeniery thing… only when the wind changes, which happens twice a year or so. and it depends on the location, if youre very near the refinery yoy will smell it.  But at Marriot you are pretty much safe , no smells there , only the beach πŸ™‚

@tela919:

Thank you πŸ™‚  well we are just in the start phase of planning,  we have to fly over from singapore to Curacao, and a bunch of family from Holland to Curacao, so we’re trying to coordinate dates, vacations etc.  What a job!  We just send emails to Hotel Kura Hulanda and Baoase resort, to find out prices and flexibility of what they offer.  So far I’m just trying to come up with ideas as to what we want the day to look like.

There is so much to do and see in Curacao.
My Favorite beaches back home :  http://www.casabaobeach.com/

Jan Thiel beach http://www.curacao.com/Attractions-and-Restaurants/Beaches/Jan-Thiel-Beach

Playa Kenepa http://www.curacao.com/Attractions-and-Restaurants/Beaches/Kenepa

And if youre okay with boating, you simply MUST go to KLEIN CURACAO, it means small curacao. its a island off the coast, takes about an hour to get there by boat.

But Beaches are a must !!  http://www.curacao.com/Attractions-and-Restaurants/Beaches  for more beaches. They are all equally beautiful.

-Visit the dolphin academy http://www.dolphin-academy.com/
-Check out rif fort !  It has many shops, and do go there at night, great restaurants with live music. RIf fort is one of the iconic places there. http://www.curacao.com/Attractions-and-Restaurants/Shop-Splurge/Renaissance-Mall-Rif-Fort
-Have your picture takes in folkloristic costumes at the Fort as well. Traditional clothing from Curacao.
– Have a Kriyoyo (local food )lunch at http://www.curacao.com/Attractions-and-Restaurants/Restaurants/Krioyo-local-food.  Highly recommend Jaanchies and marsche biew !!
-Visit the Curacao liquor factory for the authenthic BLUE CURACAO liquor http://www.curacaoliqueur.com/
– there are tons of art galeries, very beautifull http://www.curacao.com/Attractions-and-Restaurants/Art-Galleries
– Walk around in our historic town, Willemstad and do some shopping. Start at Otrabanda and cross the famous swinging lady bridge that takes you to Punda and continue shopping!

As far as car rental, check out http://www.prinscarrental.com

I guess those are more than my top 5 things to do in Curacao. Its very versatile and has so much to offer.  πŸ™‚

Let me know if you need more info, very happy to help !

You should totally post your wedding pics here afterwards *nosebleed*. I’d love a destination wedding but I want all the family to be able to attend.
