We are getting married October 17, 2015. We have decided against a traditional wedding in our hometown in Georgia and instead we are opting for a small ceremony in New York City. Think of it as sort of a “planned elopment” with our very closest friends and family. We both LOVE the Brooklyn Bridge Park… but the permit situation terrifies me! We are not willing to compromise on our date at all and we do not want to be out of $426 that we cannot get back. Does anyone have any experience/suggestions?? Is there any way to guarentee our date is available before paying for a permit?
Thanks in advance!

Central park has some really great locations and if you have less than 20people u dont need a permit…they have a really pretty Gazbo..

I see weddings there pretty frequently. You are thinking about doing it where the stone steps are? I wouldn’t think it would be an issue.
Fort Tyron park has a beautiful park setting and a restaurant nearby that hosts receptions, if you are open to another location.
And I am biased, but I loved our photographer, Dave Paek. He’s local and super reasonable with his fees.

hows the planning going? I just started a thread, but wondered if you got anywhere with your planning? we are doing the “planned elopement” also. in central park, in may. do you have hotel ideas? what about restaurants. we are from canada and i’ve never been there.. so hard to plan from far away.
