My partner and I are from Australia and are planning on having a small destination wedding in New York next year. We’re expecting around 20-30 guests to join us.
We’re considering Gramercy Park Hotel, Central Park Boathouse or Buddakan for the reception, but as we’ve only visited the city once, we’re having trouble coming up with other options.
Can anyone give me other suggestions on amazing venues? It would be good if it was around $200/person (I’m not really sure what a reception should cost…). Any other advice would be appreciated too 🙂
Thanks in advance.

@JesseB: I just wanted to bump this for you and say that 200 pp is probably reasonable for NYC.

I love Buddakan. For 20-30 guests you could also have a reception at Kyotofu, I know they do private parties there. There’s also Housingworks Bookstore Cafe in SoHo and The Foundry in Long Island City. That’s all I can think of at the moment.

Thanks for the replies!
I looked at Housing works, but I don’t have enough people. The Foundry looks amazing, but I wanted to try to keep it in Manhattan.

I recommend starting here http://nymag.com/weddings/listings/locations/
Also, for only 20-30 people, you could probably pick just about any restuarant with a private room. I used this as a guide when I was picking a rehearsal dinner location http://www.opentable.com/info/banquets.aspx?m=8

@babu22 Those sites are great! Thank you! I’ve looked into the Bowery (the wine room), Four Seasons (garden room) and Hotel Giraffe terrace. Has anyone been to these places? It’s so hard to choose from a few photos.
I really like Buddakan, however the booking can only be for 2.5 hours. They have suggested we continue the party at their bar, but I’m not sure whether it will be busy on a Monday or Tuesday in July. Any thoughts?
