torie.strampe:    Hello! We are getting married May 01, 2015 in DR. Engaged April 20, 2014: informally informed everyone May 01, 2013-May 30, 2013 that it would be a destination wedding: October 01, 2013 sent STD’s: July 15th 2014 sent invites!  I think your in the clear sending them immediately following the new year! With the upcoming holidays your invite is bound to get thrown in with the unread/unopened holiday cards! 🙂 congrats and good luck!

I would send them in November. I’m doing a domestic destination, and hotel rooms in our block need to be booked 90 days out or more or they’ll be released, so I’m sending ours 4 months in advance (save the dates will go out 10 months in advance). Plus, people should know if they’ll make it to your destination wedding in March before the holidays.

I would definitely send them in November… you can’t go wrong by sending them out sooner, and people will be waiting for a definite invite before they book hotels.. if you wait till after the holidays that’s only giving them 2 1/2 months notice to book their flights/trains or whatever and hotel.. that’s not really enough time in my opinion 🙂

We’re getting married in my home country, which happens to be different from the FI’s and where many of our guests will be. So we’ve just decided to skip the Save-The-Date Cards and send out the invites 8 months in advance. But we do have a lot of special travel arrangements needed.

I would definitely send the invites out in early November if I were you. So that they don’t get lost in the Christmas craze!
