Ok so we have decided Oct or Nov beach destination wedding. Great. Then I started looking into places, islands, resorts, airfare etc. And the options are impossible to decide on!!!! Here they are so far. All within OUR budget.
Florida: cheap airfare, no passport required, pretty anna maria island beach ceremony and outside reception. Room and board reasonable for guests. Pretty but not very adventurous and not drop dead gorgeous.
St. Lucia: To die for pretty… Can rent huge villas and have wedding reception at villa. Airfare, EXPENSIVE. lodging reasonable because of villa rentals. resorts are very expensive. Would require a lot of planning and coordinating to get the reception set up at villas. But omg by far my favorite actual destination.
Aruba: cheap airfare, resort wedding ceremony and packages very reasonable and it would all be taken care of for us. Little for me to arrange. Resort rooms are a bit pricey and because the island is so little otpions to rent villas or homes is very limmited. Also, not that pretty…looks flat, alot like FL.
WHAT TO DO?

Okay, so this is how I would do it, but it doesn’t mean it’s what fits best for you. I would go to Florida so more people would be able to attend. However, if you’re family/friends are decently well off and could afford to make the trip, then by all means go the more expensive route and pick what you love :).

in ST. Lucia, you could do, see waterfalls, visit our drive through volcano, see our pitons, zip line, horse back ride relax on the beaches. there are so many options

I beg to differ about AMI, FL not being drop dead gorgeous! I’m getting married there in December. Have you ever been? We’ve been twice and here are some of my fav scenic photos:
water is crystal clear, so here are some fishies swimming by!
view from in the ocean looking onto the shore…
AMI is one of my favorite places to visit… While we were there a few weeks ago, we met people from Canada and Europe who say they travel there often because of the scenery! That’s got to give it some credit! I can’t wait for our wedding – it’s going to be great!

@MsYellowJacket:Its not that we dont think its pretty, I guess we are more of the adventurous types and would lean more towards a more rugged terain.. It’s the flatness that doesnt draw me. as far as beaches go tho it is def pretty… I bet your wedding is going to be amazing, I do want to see pics after!!

@Mrs Scott to be:Exactly why I love it there…. grrr but plain tickets are like 900+ each. Compared to 300 to FL and 500 to aruba.

I know, because it is further away.

@ppplll6: Bottom line is that the more difficult/expensive your choice, the fewer people will attend. (Sometimes that’s the goal of having a DW! LOL) So here’s what I would recommend:
1 – Make a list of all the people you and your Fiance absolutely, positively MUST have at your wedding.
2 – Let them know your first choice, and see if they hesitate or if they are fully on board.
If they’re all on board, go for it. Just remember that anyone else you invite, and decides to come, should be considered a bonus, and resolve not to be disappointed if it’s just your must-have list!
If they’re not willing to commit to your #1 choice because of the expense or any other reason, then I would get their thoughts on your other choices and take it from there.

Well now we are considering puerto rico! It has mountains/jungle, pretty beaches, adventure and luxury and its…. drum roll please… only 400-500 per plane ticket. Now for massive amounts of research as to where and how…. hmm
