I was contacted on here a couple times by a photog who wanted to shoot my wedding just for travel costs. Maybe she is still looking for DWs to shoot? Username is meettheburks.

I was really worried about this too because I have not heard good things about resort photogs and their packages seen expensive for what they cover. I was lucky enough to have a photographer on FIs side of the fam offer to do our pictures as a wedding gift, but before that offer we had discussed with a local photographer that we liked having them shoot the wedding for just trAvel costs. Maybe you can make a deal like that? I would also check out bestdestinationwedding.com. It’slike the bee but for Destination Wedding brides and you may be able to find some photog suggestions for the area there

I’m getting married in Punta Cana as well! We’re actually using HDC Photography located in PC.

Have you seen their work? I really like their style, and they have great prices as well!

I talked to meettheburks before…very nice.

I decided on matt malicote photography out of Lexington, KY. The wife drove down to Florida for my wedding, and their prices are completely unbeatable.

I was going to say Meet the Burks will do it for free, only for travel costs:

Do you need a photographer? We would be happy to photograph your wedding for FREE, just very basic travel!!

i felt like i got unbelievably lucky with my photog.  I contacted an American photog who had done DWs who i knew would be out of my budget – I just wanted to prove it to myself so I could move on (as i really liked her work).  And the biggest coincidence happened – she wrote back and said she was already booked in Jamaica for the DAY AFTER my wedding.  She then waived any travel fees as they were already covered by her other bride AND when i said her regular rate was still out of my budget, she offered to lower her rate to what i could afford.  it was a win-win for her as well because she was already there – why not make an extra $1500 and have another Destination Wedding in her portfolio?!

Anyway, if you think about it, i got lucky, but maybe what you or other Destination Wedding brides with a low budget can do is seek out other brides (on here or bestdestinationwedding.com) with a wedding date & location the same week as you and see if THEIR photographer will also do your wedding while they are on location.   Or for those Destination Wedding brides who are flexible wtih your date – contact photogs and ask when they are booked and if a date close by works as an option for your wedding, try to work something out!   It may sound like a lot is riding on making that happen, but i figure if i got that lucky without even trying, imagine what others can find by seeking it out.

Hi there,

I won’t be able to do it for free but I am sure we can work something out that fits your budget. Please have a look at my work to see if that is what you are looking for:
