- Wedding: March 2012
Hope you can help me once again…
Fiance and I have booked as guests to his cousins destination wedding. We booked as party of the group booking with a local travel agents.
There have been some issues with the travel agent, however we have not been told the full story, only that our initial contact was sacked for embezzlement of the company and the bride and some close family were taken out for dinner by the owner of the travel agents (at her husbands restaurant).
Well, I picked up the tickets yesterday and I am listed as a child. Fiance and I have been concerned with the competence of this company for a few months and have had the feeling that we have been ripped off.
Well, I did a quick price check for the holiday, we paid $1800each not including insurance for 6 nights at all inclusive resort inc flights.
The hotels website (Rydges) says average price per night for our room is; $212.50 (@ all inclusive rate), total for 6 nights is $1,275.
Flights to that airport at the same time of year are $600-$700 each, total for us $1,200 – $1,400.
So the most the holiday could have cost is $2,675?
I appreciate travel agents take a premium, but nearly $1000 is absurd.
I’m waiting to hear back from agent regarding being booked as a child (Shouldn’t this have affected the cost??), how can I respond? Its too late to cancel and rebook but do you think I should atleast push for a room upgrade?
