Ok so I know that this has been posted about several times but so far everyone is just saying “don’t do it!” I can’t afford not to wear sunscreen. I’m a natural red head, pale and freckled. If I spend 20 minutes in the sun, I fry.
My wedding is at 11am so I’ll be out in the midday sun for my photographs etc. Can anyone recommend a specific sunscreen that I could use/try out? I definitely don’t want to look washed out, I’m already super pale.
Any advices for me bees?

I would consult with a make-up expert about any product that you plan to use on your face. Other than that, I think any non-oily, water-resistant sunscreen that disappears completely into the skin when you rub it in would be an OK choice for your body. I would definitely put it on in enought time before you put on your gown so that you will not get any sunscreen on the gown itself.
Also, many lines of make up contain a sunscreen, so, perhaps your make-up artist may not even think you need to wear an additional sunscreen on your face. However, if you do, there are lines that make moisturizers that have sunscreen in them, too.

Hello, fellow redhead! 🙂 I use Neutrogena Sheer Touch sunblock. Works really well, doesn’t leave as much of a filmy feeling on your skin. Neutrogena and Aveeno make sunblock specifically for the face, though I don’t know how that would look under makeup in photos. Wouldn’t hurt to test it out.
Here’s a Weddingbee blog about it with a bunch of comments (I’ll be giving it a read, too): http://www.weddingbee.com/2010/04/06/woes-of-a-sunblock-snob/

I use neutragena on my body but my face its all about clinique city block is tinted which I find works great. Definitely going to a place like sephora for a consultation is a good idea. Keep in mind SPF don’t always photograph well so try them out first.

don’t have any suggestions to give, so mainly this is a post so I can follow up later. But I am so with you and would love the suggestions as well! I burn and CANNOT and WILL NOT go without sunscreen. Been there done that for my BF’s wedding and I turned into a lobster… Lets just say the plane ride back was not a fun trip 🙁

Also don’t forget they make special sunscreen for eyelids which rocks.
