I’d love to have a destination wedding but would like it to be blessed by a priest as well. I know that we should go through pre-cana and have our local priest vouch for us. And, our priest will have to contact the diocese of the location we plan to wed at.
I’ve pulled up Mexico destination weddings and a Bermuda one. Has anyone else done this? Maybe somewhere other than Mexico and Bermuda? How was your experience?

@mnp: Sorry…I am doing this but in Mexico. It was pretty easy…just found a priest at our destination to agree to marry us, booked the church date there and then finished our requirements back home and had our church send the stuff down there.
I haven’t married yet, we are still afew monthsa way but I did meet the priest….he doesn’t speak english that great but he told me what he will need for the ceremony and all that so that it goes smoothly.
oh..and yeah, in Mexico everything is done very traditional, you an’t have your wedding party stand up with you at the altar…and it will have to be done inside a church….just be prepared for lots of red tape and documents required…but I think it’s worth it.

I was thinking about this too. I live in South Florida, so I’m thinking I’ll just do mine here.
I was just in Mexico for a wedding, my Fiance’s cousin and it was extremely traditional but had NO ac. Just make sure you check all the details! It wasn’t a destination wedding, his family lives in a beautiful city called Colima.
I went to Cancun, at the Excellency Resort Riveria Maya this past summer with my Fiance… by far the BEST resort we have both ever been to! We had the standard room but it was anything BUT standard! All inclusive, excellent service, delicious food with 9 different restaurants inside!
You have to consider this for a honeymoon!!!
I love Mexico but I think for honeymoon we are doing to Europe (hugeeee dream of ours)!!!

I’m getting married on the north shore of Oahu. The process has lots of loop holes but hasn’t been too difficult. We found a church not too far away from a beach resort where we’re having the reception. Good luck!
