- Wedding: September 2014
We are having destination wedding and I don’t know how to handle who to invite.
internet/etiquette?/my mom/FMIL/ say that you should invite everyone you would invite to a wedding here, which would be about 150 people ( can remove parents friends and coworkers)
I don’t want 150 people there- we are doing Destination Wedding because we want it smaller * and cheaper*. I’m not going to FL to spend 30k! I can do that here! Haha
Now to cut down on guest list I am considering only inviting aunts and uncles, no cousins. I have 25 ish cousins, many of them are older and have families (so they wouldnt do Destination Wedding anyway most likely) and we are not that close ( holidays only, don’t talk between them..ect). However Fiance has 3 cousins that we actually do see regularly and are close with.
Can we invite just the cousins he is close with? Or do we have to invite all the cousins on his side? Not sure what to do, I don’t want to wind up with more people than we can afford.
Also going to put 18 and over on the invites…would we be able tell 2 families that we are close with (one is his brother…none of our other siblings have kids) if they have to bring their kids ( small kids- toddlers) we are OK with that we would rather have them at the wedding with kids than not be at the wedding at all. Or is that not a good idea?
I don’t know what to do!
Any advice would be appreciated!
