@jsawedding21: The first step is to decide where in Florida? The next thing is to determine your budget. Your budget will set the tone for the hotels you can afford in the area if you want a comprehensive package. Basically, location, location, location, money;0)

Once you narrow your location, you might consider finding a wedding coordinator.  Someone local who knows the ins and outs of an area can take a lot of the pressure off of you!

Do you want to get married on the Gulf Coast or Atlantic? There’s also the Keys and the panhandle. There aren’t too many beach options in the keys – they are mostly rock but some resorts do have a smaller beach. The Atlantic side is rougher surf wise than the Gulf if that matters to you at all.

Do you want a major tourist destination like Daytona, Clearwater, or Miami or a smaller beach town?

i too am getting married in florida. We had a hard time getting things started cause we too didnt know where to actually start. First bit of advice…. do your research. There are TONS of companies out there, lots of them are frauds!!!!

first we decided where. We wanted white sand and smaller. Also a calmer ocean (easier for kids to play in). We decided on gulf side, not to mention it isn’t too built up cause there is a small “island” that stretches along the gulf side just off the main land. We chose st pete beach area.

Find a company: USE CAUTION!!! many say they offer photography, but it’s not by real photographers, its just that company with their camera. this was a big deal for us cause we wanted good pictures.

After lots of research we found a comany (actually talked to someone who referred them to us). Is called simple weddings florida. web is simpleweddingsflorida.com DO NOT USE THE “.net” they are a fraud. They do weddings in TONS of different locations. Tons of different packages and use real photographers and some photography is included in the wedding.

ADDITIONAL INFO:  Myself, along with other people i have spoke with, do have a few complaints about these types of companies. you have to be mindful of things that need done, they do not take care of EVERY ASPECT like a wedding planner from hotels. So do your own research. They have lists of venues, hotels, makeup and hair, and flourists….. ASK them for a list of there vendors. it does come in handy.

IF you decide to go with a hotel to plan your wedding, check out destinationweddings.com and work with them, they are FANTASTIC (friend used them last year) but i just didn’t have it in the budget.

I could go on and on, but maybe this is a place to start. If you have any questions maybe i can help out, let me know
