So I’m not crazy about the idea of a bustle but I would like to have a train for my ceremony and pictures. My seamstress said she can make my train detachable, which in theory sounds like the perfect solution but will it look right? I believe she will chop the train off and reatach it somehow under the dress. I am afraid that it will look too fragmented and not flow, but it would be so nice to just get rid of it for the reception! Has anyone done this or have do you any other ideas??
Here is a link to my dress to get a better idea of what it may look like…
Thanks for your help!!

Hmmm I think that would probable leave with you a pretty obvious gap or seam. There is no texture in the skirt to hide it. You should ask how she would be planning to do it.

I agree with Pinkmoon, usually detachable trains are hidden by pickups or ruffles or some kind of texture. Your dress doesn’t look too heavy could she just do a tucked bustle that goes under your dress rather then on top of it to preserve the sleek look?

I’ll be completely honest. I think detachable trains look ugly. A friend of mine had a detachable train so it looked like she has a giant white raccon tail attached to her butt. I don’t think your dress will look good with it. Why don’t you reconsider the bustle idea. There are lot sof types you can use. What about the ballroom bustle? The ballroom bustle will make it look like you don’t have a train at all.
