Wow!!! That’s amazing!! Thanks so much for sharing!! I’m not engaged yet but the mr and I have been talking a lot about ur wedding and how we really want to keep the costs low (like under 10K). That will be kind of hard since we live in a big city and everything is so overpriced. This gives me hope though!! LOL

Thank you so much for posting this!  I’m kind of in the same boat as MsLovelyTae.  I have been trying to save some money and come up with some kind of budget (or at least a realistic expectation of how much things cost) so that once I get the ring we can start planning.  I think our budget and guest list size will end up being pretty close to yours, so it’s really helpful to see a breakdown to help illustrate things I might be forgetting and helpful advice/ideas.  It gets really frustrating and difficult to be able to come up with a realistic budget when info like that isn’t typically posted online, but you’re not ready to actually start touring venues or ordering stuff and talking to people yet.

Sounds like a very nice, well organized affair.

Worth asking your restaurant if the servers will see any of that 18% “gratiuity.”

  • Wedding: February 2017

wedo422 :  We’re having 80 guests which now a days is pretty small and would have stuck to budget but everything in NJ is costly( Venue alone is 10K). Small savings came from booking friend for photography and not having bridal party so can save with flowers there. I agree small weddings are the best =)

  • Wedding: September 2017 - Looking - Again...

wedo422 :  I am still looking for a venue.  Both of us are from KC and he now lives in Jacksonville, FL but I am finding that the costs there compared to KC are much higher.  We just had a discussion last night about having the wedding in KC.  Can I ask what venue you are using?

Sometimes venues will call the additional percentage (on top of tax) a “service charge,” and it just goes in their pocket. You would think it would be the customary tip, but it doesn’t necesssarily go to the servers. In a case like that, they would need an additional tip to make them whole (unless there is a separate line item for their wages.) Something to get clear with the restaurant so as not to be surprised by your actual bill.
