I know you say that you suck at dieting but really it’s the only way to lose a good amount of weight and maintain it. The reason why the Master Cleanse makes you lose weight is because you are starving yourself and providing your body with no usuable nutrition.

Yeah, master cleanse recipe is pretty much a starvation diet. Drink LOTS of water. Everyone’s heard of the health benefits of flushing out fat, toxins, hydrating skin, etc. Sassy water is delicious. It’s just water with slices of lemons, limes, cucumbers and sprigs of mint. It dresses up water so it has some flavor and isn’t so boring to drink. But it’s NOT all your supposed to consume, just to be clear!

i drink 3L of water everyday while im at work, so my water intake is pretty good. im not really trying to lose weight by just doing that, ive just been feeling kind of bloated lately so i thought id try it. But ive been drinking green tea instead and trying to cut down my sweet intake ; soda, candy etc.

crash diets like this will only lead you to gain more weight in the long run. the only thing that works is a lifestyle change, one step at a time

Diets/cleanses like this are a great way to send your body into starvation mode, thus encouraging it to pack away the food stores since it will think it’s not going to get fed again any time soon.
Don’t do it!!!! Exercise, lower carbs and dairy, cut sugars… you can do it!

Someone in my office did it.
He was miserable the entire time.
In and out of the bathroom almost every hour (and it wasn’t to pee), awful breath, zero energy at all, and completely irritable.
He also had to wean his way back on to solid food afterwards because his stomach had been deprived for so long.
I’m sure he lost some weight but it was not at all noticeable except for the fact that by the end he looked half dead (huge bags under the eyes, no color in his skin, etc).
All of that sounds horribly unhealthy and awful for you.
Also, lemon and cayenne can trigger awful reflux and is very bad for the esophagus/stomach lining.

I do cleanses but do not recommend or like the Master Cleanse. I would suggest you look into juicing as a good step in the direction for weight loss. Juice cleanses can be life changing In My Humble Opinion. You are essentially giving your body only what it needs and giving it a chance to kick out the bad (overly simplified statement). – I do a weekly juice cleanse.

thanks for the advice. I just stopped breast feeding after 10m of doing it and eating everything to maintain my milk supply. so now its harder to cut down on eating.

This is a good article on detox http://frenchwomendontgetfat.com/content/detox-or-not-detox
I’ve done the leek detox, but it was only about a day to two days, just to jumpstart my body into diet mode and eating less – it wasn’t a week and I wasn’t in starvation mode. I highly recommend reading her book, it’s a very healthy and positive way to get back into shape.

Try a reboot….my Fiance and I used the plan from http://www.rebootyourlife.com and we loved it. You will still get plenty of nutrients and the right amount of caloies while juicing. The first 2 days were really hard and then it wasn’t so bad. I have about the same height and weights stats as you and I am also a mom so I know how hard it is to change your diet but it is worth it…not just for your weight but also for your health. Now we are mostly pescetarians…eating chicken and beef only when on trips. Good luck!!

The idea of a ‘cleanse’ to clean yourself out can be achieved just as well by watching what you eat, drinking a ton of water, and exercise.

Ditto all the others! Don’t buy into quick extreme “fixes!”
If you’re eating veggies, lean protiens, good healthy fats, limit processed carbs/sugar/alcohol, there is no need to cleanse on a normal healthy diet!

@MamaMima: I’m right in the middle of a 10 day juice fast and I love it. The reboot has been very helpful and I loved Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. Watched it and bought my juicer 3 days later and started the following moring with 2 juice meals a day and a small healthy dinner. I have Lupus with ongoing joint pain and I feel so much better that I’m able to run again without hip pain and I’ve lost 10lbs in 2 weeks.
