My wedding planner is a huge flake, I have to email/text/call her like 5 times to get anything. I haven’t gotten a floral contract yet. It’s SO frustrating, but just keep bugging them! They’re working for you!

@MISS_J:  Why would you pay them without a contract?

With all of my vendors the contract was signed after which I immediately forked over the amount mentioned in said contract.

@MISS_J:  I see, I wouldn’t worry much about the Living Social because normally the Living Social outlines their terms.

As for the other, I would write them an email or letter (something you can have a record of!!) that says if you don’t receive a contract within ‘x’ amount of days you will have to request your deposit back.  It shouldn’t be that hard for them to email it to you to review!

I hear ya! We’ve got several vendors (reception venue, band and post-ceremony cocktails) who are just the worst at answering emails. My hairdresser is lovely but I’ve walked into the salon 3 times now to ask for a detailed receipt as I’ve paid upfront for 7 updos, still to no avail. It’s frustrating, especially in comparison to some other vendors we have worked with they do seem very unprofessional! Ugh, frustrations you could really do without the month before the wedding…

um why exactly would you pay them with no contract?

ETA just read your update – there’s a difference between a deposit to hold a date and paying for the contracted services.  Which did you pay for?  If you paid for contracted services with no contract, you may end up being scammed. If you just paid to hold dates that’s a different story and nothing to worry about assuming you get the contract soon.

@MISS_J:  You could try saying something like I know this is a busy time of year getting into wedding season but it concerns me that we still haven’t received a contract.

Personally I take it as a sign and would cut and run.  The vendors I had problems getting a hold of were the ones that weren’t as good as I would have liked them to be on the wedding day.  Luckily the two you’re dealing with aren’t as vital as food and an officiant on your wedding day!

How are you paying them without a contract? With all my vendors, I got the contract first, THEN paid.
