So… this morning has been spent trying to find and retrieve LOST information!
DH had recently sync’d his nephews iphone to his computer. Nephew is 12 and DH and SIL are screening his music, contacts, etc.. so DH used his computer since it’s his music that we put on it.
Well this morning when DH plugged in his phone he sync’d HIS phone to his nephews…
He’s lost ALL of his contacts (hundreds or networking pastors, etc)… and I haven’t even had the gall to ask what else.
I feel so bad for him!
Anyone ever do something like this and have any solutions?????? Other than trying to track them all back down somehow….. =/

Sorry , I’m I-phone Iliterate, but can the nephew sync his phone to your husbands?
Maybe there is a way if you contact a specialist in techy stuff?! I’m sure there is a way around it! Its too dangerous just to have stuff so easily lost and transferable!

I’m not super techy in it either… DH set mine up for me. =/
I do know that nephew has differnt contacts and some kind of way instead of making a “new phone” so to speak on DH’s computer… when DH sync’d nephews it overrode DHs contacts… so they are inevitable lost. (DH ended up with nephews contacts on his phone instead of his own)
I do know that some people get with apple to have like an online safety deposit box basically or online back up.. but of course DH doesn’t.
It’s not the end of the world.. but I do feel rather bad for him.
I HATE losing contact information. GRRRRRRRR

I know this may be an obvious question – but do you have separate email itunes account for the nephew so he can buy apps and music? If so then I think that if you log back in under DH’s account then it should restore?
Fiance and I have ours on one itunes and it works fine. If not I don’t know what you can do, but good luck!

As long as he has backed up (synced) his phone previously, he can restore the settings to any previous “back-up”.
Just go to restore iPhone- then once it resets everything it will prompt you with a list of all the dates he’s ever synced it. Just pick the most recent and voila.
Good luck!

@laurzaz: yea…. that’s how we have it, but some kind of way when we sync’d his nephews phone it overrode the outlook contacts on DH’s computer.
It’s looking like some good ol’ “I lost all my contacts” footwork is at hand.
BUT good news is this is all that was lost… so yea, I guess it could definitely be worse. lol

Aw I hope you get them back, good luck on the hunt!! http://www.macrumors.com – if they don’t know the answer, there isn’t one, but those guys are geniuses (as an owner of an iphone and a macbook, and a severe allergic reaction to technology, they’ve come to my aid more than once!)
Search their forums, someone else might have already asked?

@OoOTifsterOoO: That’s a really good idea!… but the contacts on no longer on DH’s computer so even if he re-sync’d it there wouldn’t be any contacts to put. pfft =/
@laurzaz: and a severe allergic reaction to technology
This is one of the best ways I’ve ever seen this put! love it! Thanks.. He spent the last couple of hours scouring the forums without any success =/
I think DH has found resolve with tracking the contacts back down though so I think I’ll just leave him be. lol
