Or maybe do the T shirts without the last name if some people will be that butt hurt over it. You can think of a cute slogan or phrase that will appeal to everyone regardless of their surname.

If you really want the t shirt idea I would just write “Our Family Vacation” and the date, that way no one feels excluded

My family has always done this and those of us (myself included) who didn’t have the family last name never cared, because it’s obvious why the name is being used.

Your husband seems like he might need a time out, esp after what your family just went through. This isn’t about him.

He’s being oversensitive, I think your shirts are fine

Idk. I kind of get it. I grew up being the only person in my family with my last name (my father’s last name, but he wasn’t in the picture). It did always kind of bother me being referred to as “The Smith Family” (my stepdad’s last name) when I was not a “Smith”. It was different than The Jones Family Reunion (with Jones being my grandparent’s last name) because I was actually related to the Jones Family.

Either way, it’s kind of a small issue. I agree with PPs though, why not just do a shirt without the name?

Is your husband pedantic in general?  My husband is, I can see him saying something about this because it isn’t “technically correct.”  I can see me saying something snarky back to him and printing “The Jones Family” in a bigger font than I’d originally intended.

Cougar09 :  My mom only had brothers so I’m literally the only cousin on that side that never shared a name with everyone else. I still consider myself a part of the “Smith” family even though I was raised a “Jones” and am now a “Douglas”. I think your husband is over thinking it.
