The prenatal that I’m currently taking (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Spring-Valley-Prenatal-Multivitamin-Multimineral-Dietary-Supplement-240-Ct/10325013) doesn’t include DHA on its ingredient list. Based on threads I’ve seen, this is a pretty common supplement that pregnant ladies take. Can anyone help explain to me what this is (like is it different than “fish oil”?), and what brands you prefer? I just walked over to Walgreens and one of their DHA supplements was selling for $14 for a 30-capsule bottle, which I thought seemed pricey. Anyone have recommendations?

I take “Nordic Naturals Prenatal DHA”. It’s a fish-oil made from small-bodied fish (smaller fish = less mercury accumulation), and the way it’s distilled eliminates all mercury anyway. Very reputable company. I am picky about my fish-oils, I don’t buy generic.
DHA is naturally occuring in fish oil, the prenatal DHA versions just have more concentrated amounts of DHA.
Non-fish versions of DHA aren’t actually DHA, they are ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) which is a precursor in the body to DHA. It’s better than nothing for vegans to take, but fish-based DHA is better and more efficient. So unless you are vegan, I recommend the fish-oil DHA.

I get all my vitamins off either Amazon or VitaCost.com. Much cheaper than the same brands at Walgreens, Target, Vitamin Shoppe, etc.

I got the same prenatal supplements during my holidays in USA (I am staying in Asia and that brand is not available here). When I got pregnant, I brought the supplements to my gynae on my 1st visit and he told me that it was not sufficient for pregnant women and prescribed me something else.
The DHA (Fishoil supplements) which I am taking now cost about US$32 for 30 caps.

I take Naturemade prenatal with DHA/EPA. I get it at Costco where it’s about $15 for 150 days.
I also started drinking organic milk enriched with DHA. Milk has been one of my cravings and it’s also helped tremendously with my heartburn, so it’s an easy way to get some extra omegas. The kind enriched with fish oils can have a weird aftertaste, but I actually like the kind enriched with algal DHA.

I take NatureMade Prenatal Multi +DHA. You can find it at most stores. I picked it up at the grocery store. I have also been drinking Minute Maid pomegranate blueberry juice with DHA in it as well. It is pretty tasty.
