I did “30 days until 30″…little things around the house, or little things that he would appreciate. I got him things he needed, like a new wallet, and also ridiculous things that I knew he would love like a t-shirt that says “7 days without puns will make one weak” (we both love puns!). I also did things such as make him breakfast, grill up a whole bunch of bacon and put it in a glass for a bacon bouquet, and take out the trash (normally a job he does). It was fun, even though he’s not super into birthdays. I enjoyed planning it and he seemed to enjoy most of the gifts! 🙂

My SO turned 30 back in May, and I had actually started a thread about this exact same thing if you want to read it. People came up with really good options to do!
We ended up booking a trip to Vegas for August as part of his birthday!

stokesto : I try to make every birthday special for my husband so milestones aren’t that much different. This year, I got him a 2 hour sailing cruise where we can pack up our favorite foods and alcohol and enjoy the water. He already has everything he could need in terms of clothes/shoes/watches/ties etc. so I try to focus on experiences and quirky things that he wouldn’t buy for himself. Previous years I’ve taken him golfing, go-cart racing, shooting range, etc. along with some small gifts and treat him to a nice dinner out or cook his favorite meal. And I always get a big bottle of Glenlivet, his favorite scotch 🙂

i had been wanting to throw Darling Husband a surprise 39.5. my plan was to get a suite at the baseball game. but it turned out it was too expensive. time got away from me and i never called to find out about lesser expensive group options. and now it’s a couple weeks away.
but Darling Husband has been talking about throwing himself a party for his 40th for many months, he’s better at this stuff, so i may just let him do it.
we’ll have a couple week old baby when Darling Husband turns 40 so neither of us will probably be up to planning much anyway.
