I have bought and sold a few items on DB, including both this week actually 🙂

I have had good experiences with it, from both sides. Many sellers in my experience (though not all) are regular to prolific posters on PS, TFL or talk.jewelery (the newer BTD forums), so you can get lots of bonus photos of whatever is being sold and a better idea of history of items. There are quite a few people who are sort of collectors, or still seeking their perfect ring or whatever, and sell stuff soon after getting it so you can get some pretty near brand new items, even unworn items, for very good prices off full retail sometimes. I’ll see a show me the ring thread for a brand new ring one week, and see the ring show up on DB a couple of weeks later sometimes for a big discount! Or someone will buy a couple stones to compare, miss the return period, and put one or both up for sale for a pretty good steal. I’ve only bought and sold jewelery/loose stones, not handbags or anything though.

Also, I believe it is TFL that has a board for feedback on vendors so you can verify them? I only buy from vendors who accept PayPal so I have the buyer protection, but so far have had no issues.

The only downside I find is lots of vendors will only ship to the US (I am in Canada) so it can be a bit extra hassle for me to get things shipped to a US location and make other arrangements to get it.

I haven’t purchased or sold from Loupe Troupe as of yet, but there is a lot of crossover.

I’ve personally never bought anything from diamondbistro, but I have sold several pieces of jewelry on there. Most of the sellers accept paypal. Some may want to do the friends and family option to avoid fees, by doing this you won’t be protected if something would go wrong. So, just offer to pay the fees for a regular paypal transaction, it’s a very very small amount, about 3% I believe. I always make sure I mail things out with direct signature required, so everyone’s protected. As long as they do these things as well, all should be fine! Goodluck

MrsSparkleBee13:  Yes this, don’t do F & F!

It’s worth paying for the protection from both sides, in my opinion 🙂

I have bought and sold several times.

I am in Australia, which adds a little anxiety with most people listing things being in the US.

I had one terrible experience where a ring never turned up that I bought. I have no doubt in my mind it was sent, and that the seller felt terrible. She reimbursed my payment with no issues, but man, I was sad about the ring.

Another more recent purchase took 2.5 months to get to me! I was super nervous.

If you do buy or sell make sure the item is insured, trackable and requires a signature upon delivery, that avoids all the issues. Also, always pay by PP, and never use the friends and family option, ever.

natashanicole:  If you don’t use the friends and family option, and instead use the pay for goods and services option you are safe, as you can get your $ back.

Whilst it would be unusual, as the sparkly loving communities are quite tight, there are still nasty scammers out there. Anything you can do to minimise risk is a great thing!

as long as you pay by Paypal and DO NOT USE FRIEND AND FAMILY then you are protected. Make sure the seller send you an invoice that is extremely detailed because Paypal can then protect you better if they have a very detailed description in case the item doesn’t match when you receive it.
