Someone told me to comparison shop since so many diamond sites draw from the same vendors. You can search for the GIA certificate # or just narrow down the search parameters to match the specs of a diamond you are considering and compare certs one by one. I have come across a few diamonds on multiple sites within $200 of each other, give or take, but I also saw a diamond that was priced $1100 different between two sites. !

That is actually very good to know. Thanks for doing the leg work for us! I’m sure this will definitely help some one. 🙂

wonderlily: I second the PP! We looked around online for a diamond for ages and was deterred by the price fluctuations (also the tax to bring into Aus is insane). My SO ended up building rapport with a local independant jeweller and let’s just say, bartering IS possible 😉

Yup! We got a stone that was also listed in BlueNile’s inventory from a local diamond wholesaler and for a few hundred dollars less than BN. The local vendor had stone brought in so I saw it in person. So don’t think you can’t do even better locally.
