I have seen the diamond yesterday, it arrived on Tuesday from GIA laboratory. I did see the .90 ct compared to the 1.00 ct, side by side. Personally, I did notice the difference in size and which had to do with the dept and table percentaage to the stone’s measurement. Another thing was my band is larger in mm size and went it’s set on a thin band, you could not tell. I love my band and with the .90 ct, it was still beautiful. We purchased the .90 ct F VS2, excellent polish, very good symmery diamond. In natural light, the color was white. Great cut and the stencillation was amazing.
I will get my ring tomorow. The stone is being set and my ring is being resize, I’m so excited! Thank you Bee’s for all the inputs and suggestions!! I do appreciate it very much. I will post final picture.

I’ve taken your advices Bees and here is my upgrade ring!
GIA princess cut .90 ct, F, VS2, Excellent polish, very good symmetry, no culet and flourescene, band is 1/3 tcw = 1.23 tcw, size 4.75 ring set in a v-prong
I couldn’t tell after it was set that it was 1 carat shy. Face up it looked exactly 1 ct. My lovely husband did well. He picked the band and the diamond himself, and only asked for my approval. I think the decision to go with quality was great!
Sorry, I’m not sure how to resize the picture. Here it is, please tell me if you can tell the difference in size, thanks!

it would be hard to tell the difference between the two as far as size goes. the price jumps because a 1 carat exactly is considered a “magic” number. as is a .50. anything slightly above or below like your .91ct and it makes a considerable difference in price. Now, that being said. if you are choosing a round brilliant diamond they are the best diamonds for hiding flaws and giving the most sparkle for your buck. what that means is, you probably can’t see the difference between the two. they will both sparkle and shine the same.
I personally picked quality over size for mine, but I have an emerald cut and step cuts do not hide flaws.
I hope that helps and isn’t confusing! good luck!
