I went straight to the gym from school today and realized when I got on the treadmill that I was still wearing my ring. Too lazy to go and put it back in my car, I kept it on and started my workout. About twenty minutes in, I went to reach for my ipod and banged my hand against the treadmill and one of the halo diamonds in my e-ring POPPED OUT.
I freaked out, hit the deck, and scoured the gym floor all while I was on the phone with my Fiance in absolute hyterics. I am the luckiest girl in the world because I’ll be damned if I didn’t find that teeny tiny diamond, WHEW.
I still can not believe I was that careless…my fiance was in the infantry in the Marine Corps and earned the money for my ring sleeping in a hole in the desert and eating food out of a bag. I feel so guilty and disappointed that I damaged it! 🙁
Thank goodness I found the diamond and that Kay will be able to fix it, though I am super bummed that I won’t be wearing a ring for a while.
Have any of you bees had something similar happen to you? How long did it take to fix your ring?

I am so sorry that happened! I would have freaked out. I am glad you were able to find the diamond and they are able to fix it though. Sorry I have no experience to give any input but hopefully it doesnt take too long.

ive lost a few smaller diamonds. once while swimming my hand hit the lane divider thingy – its impossible to find a diamond in an olympic sized swimming pool and ive lost another one somewhere – just gone, most probably while i was scuba diving.
one day i was getting my license renewal and sitting there and was straightening my rings and one popped out in my hand. i since had my ring redone completely and since then not a problem – i also dont wear my diamonds often because im pretty active and i forget to change the rings over

I have a 3 stone ring (two small stones on either side of the center stone) and last Christmas I lost one of the little diamonds. We had been to 3 different places, there was snow on the ground outside, and I had worn 2 different mittens. Needless to say, we never did find the stone. When Fiance bought the ring, he also purchased a care plan so the jeweler replaced the missing stone- FREE OF CHARGE! It all worked out, but I was definitely in full on panic mode when I realized it was gone!

I work at a hospital, and was foolishy wearing my ring to work every day. It caused one of my side stones to fall out. Thankfully my jeweler fixes those for free! I don’t wear my ring to work anymore though.

I was so afraid of this. Fortunately Zales has an extended warranty option which will repair any damage or lost stones free of charge. As long as you don’t lose the entire ring, they will replace any missing stones for free. I have not had to use the warranty yet, however I am clumsy and not used to wearing expensive jewelry so this was a must have for me!

I’m so glad to see that it worked out for you all! Not sure if it’s that or this giant glass of wine making me feel better 😉 I definitely need to be more careful.

I have had it happen 4 times within a year. The last time one fell out it was sitting in a dish by my bed because I quit sleeping in it and the time before that I was at my office job. One trip to the gym wouldn’t have caused a diamond to fall out without trauma, it was probably already loose. There is no reason to blame yourself. It is important to remember that your ring is a physical symbol of your fiance’s love, it is the commitment that matters the most.
Luckily my ring came with a lifetime craftmanship warranty (it is currently being rebuilt after the 4th stone in hopes that it wouldn’t happen again). Just make sure that you keep going back to Kays every 6 months like they require to keep your warranty up. It is worth it to eliminate the stress.

Well, looks like it’s going to take about two weeks to fix, Kay said they have to send it away 🙁 I have been meaning to get my e-ring (and wedding band) resized for a while now so I guess I will survive without it for a while. Lesson learned!!!

It’s pretty common to lose small stones, I’ve had a few fall out too. I actually leave my rings on at the gym and pretty much all the time because I’ve heard so many horror stories of lost rings. See what your jeweler says about taking them on and off, unless it is uncomfortable for you to wear them, you may not need to take them off for the gym!

Hasn’t happened to me yet, but I think it’s fairly common to happen at some point with the type of setting I have (micro pave halo). My jeweler will replace them for life.

I had one of the side stones fall out of my ring, but it was when the jewler was steaming it clean! They replaced it within an hour. The store does a life time warrenty. =)

I lost one in December and then the other day I saw one was loose (both of these were in the halo by one of the center stone prongs) so I dropped it at the jeweler’s. I’m ready to have it back!

Sales- they do have a diamond bond warranty, but you have to have your ring inspected and signed off on every 6 months. I’ve lost 2 side stones on my ring, different occasions. The first time was within the 100 days and they fix anything for free within that time. The 2nd was a few weeks ago. I called my Fiance upset, he played dumb, so I called the corporate office. That’s how I learned about the 6month inspections and luckily I was in my 6th month right then. If it had happened like 2 weeks later I would have been SOL. I am angry that I’ve lost 2 stones in the same ring. There should be a limit- like a lemon law.
I wear my ring every day, everywhere. Gym, work, gardening, everywhere. Didn’t know I couldn’t.

I sent my ring back to the jeweler to have the center stone tightened, and not soon after I got it back, a tiny side stone had fallen out. It may have fallen out before then, but I noticed it maybe a month after I got it back, and haven’t cared/wanted to part with my ring to have it replaced.
It’s hard to notice, I only caught it because there was a tiny area that wasn’t as sparkly as the rest of the ring, and I was curious why. It sits between my finger, so you can’t see it face-on. Maybe that’s why I haven’t bothered.
