CNN is like a year or more behind that “news”.

Also, I don’t think someone wanting an emerald cut would be happy with a crisscut. They look entirely different. I am not sure why the designer of them even compares them. It is like telling someone who wants an asscher cut they should get a oval cut instead as it will face up bigger at less weight.

Interesting…

So all the cuts are for an emerald cut-like stone and have those facets running side by side?

Not sure I understand yet…

So, you get half the diamond for half the price. Looks to be very shallow and I am sure will be semi-see through. Cant see how this would be considered a desireable cut, since it is essentially an extremely spready stone.

RayKay:  +1. I have an emerald cut and I hate the look of the crisscut. It’s not even close!

ponyrider:  I think it is like a HW cushion (which is also shallow and spready) in that it will have a small fanbase but also have a lot of detractors.

I’m a little confused by this because the crisscut diamond has been around for awhile. Christopher designs sells them and has been selling them for several years. Are these something different posted above?

RayKay:  So basically it’s the “rose-cut” of emerald cuts (but more sparkly and a ton of facets)?

Still not sure I get this cut..

(I’m off to google)

MrsSparkleBee13:  That was VERY HELPFUL!

I think it looks good in the round cut, but not liking the look in the emerald. But some folks will love it FOR SURE.

I just think the big drawback it that with the cushion and the emerald cut, the look is so very distinctive. That could make some folks critical…

I love the cut. I think as halos go out of style people will gravitate towards this stone and other spready cuts like ovals and pears. As long as the crisscut doesn’t have a large window down the center I’d consider getting one.

Shesaidyes:  glad I could help!  I agree with you 100%! I much prefer the standard emerald cut as well as the standard cushion. The crisscut emerald looks alot like the daussi cushion and it would probably be mistaken for an elongated cushion or even a radiant cut by many people. I feel like the crisscut cushion looks very similar to the way a gemstone is cut. But the crisscut round is very intriguing to me, I’d love to see one in person!

I just saw a Crisscut emerald in person a few weeks ago when my boyfriend and I were ring shopping.  I love step cuts and we went to this particular jeweler because they carried this cut and thought it might be a great compromise because my boyfriend loves rounds.

I can’t obviously speak for anyone else, but I hated it!  They had a real one set and it looked fake, like people would tilt their head trying to figure out what it is fake.

It wasn’t sparkly like a round and it didn’t have the flashes of light that traditional step cuts give.  It really was just meh.  I was so dissapointed!  The picture that MrsSparkleBee posted is actually much better than the one I saw in person.

It’s the pug of diamonds. Looks all squishy. I like it though lol
