humunahumuna: ….I hesitated asking for a video….but would you please? 🙂
I saw the new cut as well and the video they posted makes it look gorgeous! By the time I’m ready to buy I the new cut will be the only one available. I can’t wait until they’re actually in stock and people start posting pics. I’ll order one in October to do my comparison!

One of the big differences between the previous oval and the new will be the partial hearts and arrows, but the most exciting aspect is the elimination of the ‘bowtie’ effect.
Previously, I believe the only cuts to do that were the barion oval and pear, but they are labor intensive/espensive/waste more rough, so pretty uncommon.

I think these videos really show how different the AG oval is from a diamond oval 🙂 it’s missing the “glint” and crushed ice appearance center (at least to my eyes) seen in oval cut diamonds. (example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvCe__8SIQs )
either way, I love mine !

humunahumuna: From the videos you posted I actually really like the AG way more tha the diamond.
OP I really wasnt a fan of the oval cut until I saw the AG video and picture of one of the bees AG I actually like the cut more than a diamond cut. That’s just my opinion. For me I honestly like different cuts in different stones for example I like cushion in diamon and plan to get a diamond for my cushion ring my husband got me for my Birthday. I like princess cut in diamond. Emerald, and round for moissy. So it doesn’t really matter the stone for me I think they are all beautifu in my opinion.

Princesskitty101: I think you are right! My oval diamond is sparkly but definitely has that bow tie effect right in the middle, but the cut on oval AG is phenomenal!
I think you have to appreciate and love moissanite for what it is if you are going to be happy with your ring in the long run. When my friends were considering moissanite I advised them not to “settle” for a moissanite if they truly wanted a diamond because it would be a waste. So far, they are very satisfied.
A good friend of mine has a 1.5 carat diamond engagement ring and I always compare her diamond to my moissanite and it just makes me love moissanite more because of the extra sparkle and the fact that her diamond is always dirty and dull (which she promptly gets cleaned lol!).
A good quality diamond can make me drool too! I’m lucky that there are options!

An AG oval was our first choice for my ring but they still haven’t restocked since the Fall, and we just could not wait any longer. We snatched up a 4.46 carat cushion and never looked back! I love big stones (clearly) and I knew I wouldn’t be happy with a smaller diamond that was in our budget, so that’s the only reason why I would say go with the AG. They really are stunning.
