My dress is diamond white and I was told to have my groom wear the same color shirt since white will be too bright and ivory will look to yellow. I went to Mens Wearhouse and they do not have diamond white as an option. So, I ordered a white vest with the paisley pattern hoping the pattern will break up how white the vest is. But, what to do about his shirt? Do I just buy a diamond white shirt? Where? What did you do if you had a diamond white dress and how did it look in photos?

I am just having him wear a white shirt! I think the differences are quite subtle…. at least I hope!

I really think a regular white shirt would probably be fine. My Fiance is wearing an ivory shirt, but only because she dress is really ivory and he wanted to. If my dress was lighter in color, I would have had him wear white.

Ahhh! I haven’t thought about this. I thought white would work?!

I also think a white shirt would be perfectly fine!

I don’t think the shade of white needs to be EXACT to your dress color. That may be impossible to find – there are so many shade variations of white and ivory. I think a white dress shirt will be fine with your dress. I wouldn’t go with the ivory at Men’s Wearhouse, its a very dark, yellowish ivory. Your dress will probably show up a bit lighter in photos anyway.

I have worried about this as well. Every time we go into mens wearhouse to look at ties they ask what color my dress is (its ivory) they immediately go into a huge schpeal about buying ivory shirts because it will totally clash and ruin the wedding bla bla bla. Fiance has an ivory shirt and we both agreed it looked BAD. We’re just sticking with regular white shirts for all the groomsmen!
I’m going to lie next time we go look at ties because its frustrating dealing with salespeople.

White will be fine. You won’t be able to tell in photos, and you would really have to get up close and personal to tell the difference in real life. 🙂

The only difference that I found between white and diamond white is that white is a cooler color white and diamond white is a warmer color white. They are both white.
I have a diamond white dress and my Fiance will be wearing a white shirt and vest/tie.

We just used a white shirt! I had a Diamond White dress from Maggie Sottoro & the white T shirt looked perfect with it! 🙂

I would go with white, because there really is a difference between white and ivory if you are trying to keep it traditional.

Just go with white. My dress is diamond white and my Fiance is actually wearing a black shirt (black vest, black suit, black everything) with a white tie.

my dress is diamond white and Fiance is wearing white, i never even thought it would be an issue and i still don’t

Ivory is definately too yellow! White is fine and I dont think you will see the difference.

I am glad I found this post! We got the spiel at Men’s Wearhouse too about the whites but I agree with PP that their ivory is almost a pale yellow. My dress is nowhere near that color. Got me so worried I started talking about possibly having the guys wear a colored shirt.
Did not know tux shopping would be so difficult! Too many pieces in one outfit to debate. Arg.
