I think diamonds are the most incredibly beautiful stones on earth. I find them fascinating and nothing else really captures me the way that they can. I love other stones too, but diamond is my favorite. I have diamond rings, moissanite, ruby, emerald, sapphire, etc. Diamond is my go to for a pick me up. It is pure magic for me. 🙂

Diamonds over a moissy was easy for us because moissys don’t keep their value. In the long term not as great an investment. I actually upgraded from an aquamarine to the diamond once we became more financially stable. Will never look back! I just love it!

In all honesty I never heard of any of the other stones before this board either! I would always pick a diamond though because imo they’re the most durable, sparkly, traditional stone. I am absolutely in love with diamonds and I’m not sure I would be as happy with any other stone.

This thread might end up ruffling some feathers. There was never any other considerat from DH or I. I wanted a natural, white, sparkly diamond that will maintain its luster and shine for generations to love after me.

I have a pink diamond and it looks nothing like a morganite. At the time I did not know morganite was an option and I would have been pleased with both. It just depends on what you are looking for.

I wanted a diamond because they are extremely beautiful and hard and really unique stones.  They have so many industrial and scientific uses and I love how they are not man made but are created over a period of a billion or more years.  They are the hardest known natural material, that’s pretty neat too.

I love all sorts other stones but my diamond is unique and has such a personality!

Honestly, we got a diamond because my Fiance is traditional. I suggested an Amora but he was having none of it. So for this purchase, it was, ultimately, his money, his choice.

I do love my diamond. I may also dabble in an Amora/F1 Moissanite because I love large, sparkly white, round stones (or if they do an emerald…drool)–and spending less would be awesome.

I have a green sapphire, and I have it because I always knew I would never be happy with a diamond. I don’t know if it’s because everybody has a diamond engagement ring and I need to be different, or because I find white to be kind of boring, but I knew I needed a gemstone. I think I ended up with a green sapphire instead of blue for basically the same reasons I didn’t get a diamond… because a lot of people seem to be getting blue sapphires.

I should add that I do love how diamonds sparkle so I have them as side stones… I would also have been happy with a coloured diamond for my centre stone.

I have a diamond simply because that’s what my husband picked out. I would have been satisfied with any ring, even if it didn’t have a stone. FWIW, I’m in the “dogs are man’s best friend” camp, not diamonds 🙂

I think my Fi went with a diamond, because well that’s normally what you hear for wedding rings. Now though, after being on these boards, I wish I could of pushed him into a mossianite. I will for an upgrade later in life.

I picked out my engagement ring. In all honestly, I didn’t realize there were other options besides diamonds until I came to the bee! I absolutely love some of the moissanites and other gemstone rings that have been posted. I don’t regret my diamond e-ring, however, I would have been more open to other options a few years ago when we got engaged.

I was lucky enough to pick my diamond and setting. My Fiance told me to pick whatever I wanted (I had no budget). When he proposed he didn’t have a ring, and was afraid of the whole process. He was afraid he would over spend/under spend.

I briefly considered a diamond alternative (moissy) but I think I read somewhere that they can haze overtime. Most moissies aren’t that cheap so instead of having to buy another stone in the future (if it were to haze) just stick w/ the traditional diamond.
