Not a fan just use scented bags or grocery store bags and put the poopie diapers in it then in the trash it goes.

We just use a regular old lidded trash can; we’ve never had an issue with smell, and it’s much cheaper.

@regberadaisy:  I have been a nanny for a very long time. And I. loathe. the. diaper. genie.

It smells awful. It doesn’t contain smell at all. You also have to wrap the diaper super tightly, because the hole you have to push it through is very narrow and if you didn’t wrap the diaper up well enough, crap will be all over your hands. It’s a huge pain to use, smells awful and is a trick and a half to change the bags. I hate it. Do. Not. Get. It.!!!

If there was one lesson I took away from all my nannying years, it was that I hate diaper pails.

I haven’t used the champ, so no feedback on that.

But, I have heard great feedback on the diaper dekor. I registered for that one for use with my cloth diapers, though that’s not it’s original intent. I have a friend who just had a baby and her husband loves the dekor, he said it’s really easy to change the bags, and is quite ingenious because you can tie off the bags and cut them out so you never have to smell it. Hard to explain, but he showed me how it worked and it was pretty cool (obviously we won’t be using the disposable bags with cloth diapering, but for disposables it’s a great system), I’ve never seen a dad so excited about a diaper pail haha!

You could use regular trash bags with it too I think.

But, like mrs.spring said, so many people use regular trash cans and it works just as well!

I used the Diaper Champ and loved it. It was given to me as a gift and it wasn’t something I HAD to have but once I got it I couldn’t get enough. I used it mostly for middle of the night diaper changes because walking downstairs to throw out a diaper at 3 in the morning is horrible. I would buy the Walmart brand bags for it ($5) and they worked great.

I used the Genie when I babysat my niece and I couldn’t stand it. Just like miss-spunkin said- it’s hard to push the diapers in.

When I worked at a large baby store the Genie and the Champ were most popular and got the best reviews. Not many people bought the diaper dekor. I don’t know why that is and I’ve never used one in real life.

We have the diaper champ and I HATE IT!! The only thing I like about it is that you can use regular trash bags.  I hate it because it fills up fast and when it does the lid gets stuck so you can’t roll it.  And you still get the smell of dirty diapers. I personally wouldn’t have bought it.

Started with the Diaper Genie but it was a PITA.  Ended up just using sandwich bags (and later quart bags as the diapers got larger) from the local wholesale club.  You can get months worth bags for $7 or less and they are so easy to take with you when you’re outside the house.  No smell and no bulky diaper pail!

We have loved our Diaper Genie Elite II.  Although you have to buy the bags, the bags really contain the smell, and they are super easy to throw out.  Also, I love that it has a foot-pedal opener – that way you don’t have to use two hands to throw out diapers.  I always recommend it to my friends!
